First Impression: Maybelline's New Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (36 hrs)
Sunday, June 01, 2014
Hi! So, since I have a lot of time in my hands, I took the opportunity to try on new things! If you haven't seen my blog post Beginner for Nudes, just click this link!
I would also like to share with you guys that I am also a beginner for gel eyeliners. I kind of started with pencil eyeliners, then liquids then off to pen eyeliners and just stopped there. I mean, pen eyeliners gives me control and precision in lining my eyes, but not all that I've tried are smudge proof or long lasting and sometimes, the tip gets busted :(. So, I've decided that it's about time that I try on gel liners.
An online seller recommended them to me and swore by it and I was sold. I saw her wear it and it was almost midday, where in here, in the Philippines, it's very humid and your makeup just starts to melt and she told me that it doesn't smudge at all and lasts the whole day. So I thought, if I bought another pen liner, it's cheap, but gives me troubles at times, it's not as practical is it? So, I bought Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner and invest on it.
This product claims that it is more intense, lasts up to 36 hours (that's mental who would wear it for 36 hours straight I can't think of anyone) and it is smudge proof and water proof. It glides on smoothly when applied on the lids and the brush is just, wow, because for a free brush, it does do its job very well. Of course like any other brush, you have to keep them clean so wouldn't have troubles in applying the product.
The amount of product contained is 2.5g. It has a very creamy texture and in my experience, takes almost a couple of minutes to dry and just really set on the lids. I bought this for Php499.00 ($11.43 USD)
I've conducted a smudge test and here is the result.
I smudged it downward a minute after application and here's what happened. It got smudged because I didn't set out the product evenly so there were a few clumps. Then I waited for it to completely dry and smudged it a few times upwards and there were no difference compared to the second photo. Impressive.
For the product being waterproof, I just run water at the back of my hand where the line was and it made no difference. But ofcourse if you try to smudge it after running water on it, it will smudge. And that's good for me because I don't want it being hard to remove.
Am I satisfied? Yes. Will I buy it again? Yes. Do I recommend it? Highly. As a first time user, (that sounded like a drug addict.. first time user... haha) I didn't have much troubles applying it. Although, it just takes a couple of practice to know how fine or thick you want the line may be. :)
So, whats your fave gel liner? I am very happy with Maybelline.
